GM Camaro Plant Open House Photo Diary Part 2

Cont'd as promised...

Cover yourself ! You should be ashamed !

Check out the interior package

Robotic Arm carrying the convertible Camaro top

Interior shot with the dash in already

This is the dash believe it or not

See! I told you! This is all behind the dashboard and the other side is in the interior of the cabin

Ok, if you can decipher this I'l buy you a coffee....so how many mistakes is what I want to know?!

Before the dash again..

How can you eat in the middle of work? Seriously?!

There's the convertible top being fitted in. Now what I don't understand is the sign SEO - Ditch Molding - do they really need to optimize their search engine at this point in manufacturing?!!

OOOO - She's gonna be a pretty one

Bridget, what exactly was this picture supposed to show?

She's being air-lifted!

Check it out there's a chick on the assembly line! (p.s. there was a few)

Transport above our heads - moving doors!

We took a picture of this why?

I was very tempted to hit buttons here - think it would stop production?

What the??? Is that a Buick Regal? I thought those were produced alongside the Opel Insignia is Germany!

Turns out it is and they are going to be produced in Oshawa now - yay Oshawa!

Blew up the picture so you can see an entire chunk of the assembly line - do you think Henry Ford's original line looked different?

Up goes those doors....

Like a roller-coaster of doors - Bridget's comment, not mine.

Camaro door

Interior Camaro door
Add just in case you didn't know what kind of car was being built here  - there is a picture of the nameplate

Wait, the Camaro is a 2door - how are there 2 doors for one side - is this for the Buick? God! you need to explain, we are getting confused here!
Eureka! Seats!

CONT'D....

GM Camaro Plant Open House Photo Diary Part 1

I signed me and my girlfriend up to go see the Oshawa, Ontario GM Plant Open House because I have been wanting to see what goes on in there since I was born just forever, okay?

The Oshawa employs about 4,500 people and makes the Camaro, Buick Regal, Impala, and the Chevrolet Equinox. It is a 9.07 million square foot plant (imagine what that property is worth? Insane) and it has won several awards for Plant Quality and long-standing commitment to build quality products (hmmm...sounds like a CAW bargaining tool).

We had a lot of fun and the experience was very cool (I mean where else can you see a robotic arm put a windshield on a Buick Regal? Come on now!). Just breath-taking....

Don't take my word for it - check out my Open House Photo Diary:

We just entered - WOW - half-made Camaro's!

Close-up - They're naked! No paint.

Friendly Neighbourhood GM Worker

Is that the trunk lid?

Where is he going? Shouldn't he be working? How much do you get paid again?

Front hood - now here's progress

Checking - Are we good?

Fluorescents! Checking out the problems and defects!

Did you find one?

Ready for the spinn-y thing-y

Swinging...

Spun!

And...around

Line-up of Equinox's ready for another shift

Painted and in a row
Cont'd...

Mrs. Peter Shankman

Checking out Peter Shankman's blog because the word Infiniti caught my eye (yes, it doesn't take much - just name a car brand - really sad). He mentions a nice "Lease Return/Retention" letter he just got from his Infiniti dealer in Manhattan. Ahh, I remember writing a template and sending these letters/emails, but I can say with a clear conscious I never made these mistakes. Check it out...really funny... http://shankman.com/object-lesson-infiniti-autos-and-marketing/
